FamilyMail™, a Windows 98/2000/ME/NT/XP email program, was released to ensure non-computer users to be able to exchange emails with their loved ones, without requiring any prior training. Non-computer users –a large proportion of them being seniors– are the first to suffer from the "digital divide".

The user-friendliness of the FamilyMail™ program was developed after thorough research and studies carried out with non-computer users. The creation of the program took into account a large array of factors, ranging from their computer perception or their manual precision, to their understanding of technical language.
"We noticed how difficult it is for many non-computer users to use a mouse accurately, especially with tiny and numerous icons," said Dr. O. Saudan, CTO and former searcher of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne. "Technical words also make it hard for many of them to understand, e.g. the word "icon" refers to an entirely different universe.
Even the logic of the PC is difficult to remember, e.g. shutting it down by going into the "Start" menu". Identifying those generational factors and knowing PC's complexity enabled us to develop this very innovative user-friendly email client, which does not require any prior training."

The pictures automatic management of the whole process concerning the email’s reception and display, as well as the automatic opening of the attached pictures emphasizes the user-friendliness of FamilyMail™’s program.
